I’ve spent 13 years in consumer technology publishing, latterly as an editor and then editor-in-chief. I’m probably most closely associated with MacFormat, for seven years the UK’s best-selling Apple magazine, but I also conceived and launched Tap!, an iOS-focussed magazine available in print and via FutureFolio, an innovative digital publishing platform I helped shape. You can read more about my writing and editing and my speaking and consultancy on this site.
I can communicate complex ideas clearly and simply, hugely enjoy working with talented, sparky people, and I love helping inspire a team.
For more on my skills and experience, see the other pages in this About section or go to my page on LinkedIn, where folks I’ve worked with have been kind enough to write some testimonials; there are some excerpts from them below.
I don’t think I’ve ever described a work colleague as “inspirational,” but I can think of few other words that better fit Chris. He’s someone I admire for his unending creativity, his continuing desire to exceed expectations, and his child-like curiosity in pretty much everything that crosses his path. Yes he works hard, and yes he’s someone you can rely on, but more than that he’s someone who goes out of his way to be kind, considerate and encouraging, and I’m deeply envious.
Director, FutureFolio, Future Publishing
Chris is a great editor to work with. Delegates responsibility clearly and effectively, sets reasonable deadlines and gives his writers the creative freedom they need to make to the features they work on their own. In addition to being a consummate professional, he’s a really nice guy.
Managing Editor, iMore
Chris can explain technical topics in a way that’s massively entertaining to read, and he’s a patient and thoughtful editor too. He’s extremely knowledgeable about the industry, very dedicated to doing the best job possible, and just a stand-up person all around.
